Harry Ramm was texting most of this morning as he, Mike and Dan Booker were finding Little Gull's off the Arun river mouth in Littlehampton, followed by what they first believed was a Iceland Gull until pinned down and identified..good work guys. I was tempted down and camped out on the west side of the river mouth and grabbed these shots of what I believed was the Kumlien's Gull, only to be informed by other observers looking at my photo's on my camera that they felt it was not the bird present earlier. So, I stuck the photo's on birdforum for clarification and all came back that the bird in the photo's was indeed the Kumlien's Gull. Always healthy to have a good look at what you are seeing and perhaps the fact that I managed to get these shots whilst the sun was out briefly, showed may features and markings on the bird that had not been seen earlier in the murkier conditions? The adult Glaucous Gull also put on a good show and a adult Little Gull in winter plumage also showed well and was told there could have been upto four birds in the area today! Great find by the lads..I am sure this bird will draw many admirers
